I've always referenced chicagocrime.org as an interesting "mashup". 
Nightly it pulls from a crime database or two in Chicago and updates its 
own database, and ties that in with Google maps and provides a very 
searchable interface.

I didn't know how searchable until watching this video of Adrian 
Holovaty, the site's creator, give a demo of it:

That's impressive.

How's this relate to Python?  Chicagocrime.org is built with Django.  :)

Makes me curious if Eugene has a crime database.
